New Job Opportunity: Field Test Engineer – Southern California

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with validation engineers on test case creation and execution.
  • Coordinate with R&D to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Be the escalation point and prepare to mentor other testers in the team.
  • Manage and investigate issues reported by Carriers, Technical Account Managers, Quality Managers, and Customer Care Managers.
  • Generate issue status reports for management review
  • Act as if the “real customer” and collect and review user experience-based metrics, to detect problems during development phase.
  • Up to 40% travel within US/Canada required; some international travel may be needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate degree or higher, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
  • Experience in testing cellular technologies (GSM/GPRS/UMTS/LTE or CDMA/1xRTT/EvDO, etc…)
  • Basic understanding of WAN network concepts, roaming partnerships, frequency bands, handoffs.
  • Prior wireless or related field test experience in handsets and tablets.
  • Have experiences in field testing using Metrico equipment and have the ability to interpret the test results
  • Have lab testing experience in different chipset platforms
  • Have experiences testing Android OS handsets and tablets
  • Have experiences in testing hot spots devices and data cards
  • Have experiences with T1 carrier test requirements and process
  • Have testing experiences with other OEMs
  • Excellent ability and methodology to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues
  • Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions and effective communication with a wide array of functional groups for a quick resolution turnaround time.

  • Team player that enjoys working with other technical resources and project members
  • Fluent computer operation skills, including data compilation and reporting (Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Microsoft Project)
