Company Description

Founded in 1998, our client is an international, membership based consortium focused on the wireless industry. Currently with more than 160 members, their mission is to help their members identify new and emerging markets, products and services for ALL things wireless. They address these important topics by organizing and running 12-14 workshops per year and numerous very-focused working groups. They focus on network (access and transport) and mobile device technologies.

Job Description

Reporting to the business owner, this person is responsible for membership account management and acquiring new membership for this international wireless industry organization.

Membership Account Management

  • Minimum twice yearly telephone or personal contact with their member company’s point of contact to ascertain their topics of interest
  • Exploring whether these topics warrant a future workshop or new working group
  • Confirming the annual membership renewal – and confirming the point of contact
  • Updating Members on future workshops and working groups which are of value to them
  • Updating the company’s organization chart
  • Offering any assistance to further the relationship between current member and company
  • Asking for referrals for other companies who might be interested in company’s services

New Membership

  • Experience in selling intangibles
  • Following up on the many requests for Membership
  • Following up on referrals from various sources
  • Closing the membership sale
  • Handling all post membership “welcome activities” to be certain that the new member is fully engaged with company’s services

Marketing

  • Ultimately take full responsibility for creating the message and the messaging of company’s workshop and working group services.
  • On WEB site
  • On social media communications
  • In email marketing materials promoting workshops and working groups
  • Communication documents about company, workshops & working groups

Workshops

  • Assist Technical Director in identifying new companies who might be good workshop speaker and new membership prospects
  • Assist Technical Director in crafting the message and messaging for communicating the value of the workshops to the industry.

Travel

  • At least 1 week a month, to attend and participate in workshops, in various parts of the world. (Valid passport is required)
  • To attend other industry conferences, a few times a year
  • To visit key members, as needed

Qualifications

  • a technical degree
  • a minimum of 10 years experience in the wireless industry. The ideal candidate will have previous technical knowledge of RF components, RAN, Mobile Devices/Smartphones, Backhaul, Base stations, Mobile Chipsets, Infrastructure, Mobile Network Access or Wireless Standards.
  • have a deep working knowledge of the wireless industry supply chain, ie: carrier, OEM, module, components, materials, software and services
  • have global technical and business contacts
  • proven ability to manage 100’s of customer relationships, globally
  • proven ability to manage the sales process and close sales in a consultative manner
  • must be comfortable working in a small company, and as such, not expect the services available from large corporations
  • proficient in handling all sales administration duties
  • knowledge of ACT CRM a major plus
  • willingness to maintain all account records in a real time manner (keep your client records up to date)

Compensation:  110 – 130K
