Job Description:

Our client is looking for an aggressive, goal-oriented Technical Sales Manager located in the Detroit, MI. area. As a Technical Sales Manager you must combine technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on a wide range of test and measurement products.

You will be the key point of contact for customers and provide both pre- and post-sales advice. Working closely with other members of the sales team and with colleagues from marketing, product development and customer support, as well as with company senior management.

Sales region includes the state of Michigan. You will be selling our complete line of data acquisition and sensor solutions for a wide variety of vertical market applications including, but not limited to the Automotive industry. Must be comfortable and passionate selling to technical end users as well as upper management to help understand and solve their problems.

We are looking for individuals who can help build upon our company reputation of extreme quality, reliability and performance, as well as demonstrate how our solutions exceed those of our competitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct sales responsibilities for the state of Michigan, closing business
  • Develop relationships with key end users and management
  • Identification of new business and maintain existing customer loyalty
  • Establish and maintain professional selling relationships across all levels of the customer’s organization, including engineering, marketing, purchasing, and senior management
  • Plan and execute customer visits and presentations to promote company awareness and develop opportunities
  • Develop strategies to grow presence in, automotive, military, machinery, and other market segments
  • Strong technical understanding of key products with ability to perform basic hardware and software demonstrations
  • Participate in all regional trade shows to foster new opportunities
  • Work closely with product marketing to identify key applications where company offers unique value
  • Support marketing with application information and feedback
  • Diligently log sales activities and opportunities in CRM

Qualifications:

  • ME or EE degree or other technical degree in an engineering or physical science discipline strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge and experience selling one or more of the following: instrumentation, test and measurement products, sensors; the ideal candidate will have experience in Mechanical Test and Measurement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Background in instrumentation, test or data acquisition
  • Ability and experience in demonstrating technical products
  • Proven track record in sales in automotive industry with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of sales experience.
  • Successful track record working from home office
  • Miller Heiman experience a plus
